In recent years I’ve noticed a growing trend where parents put on too much party activities and it often backfires. I wrote this post to give you some insight to ensure your party goes with every success and stays long in the memories for many years to come.
More isn’t better at children’s parties. I’ve seen parties with everything from bouncy castles, soft play furnishings to face painters and DJ’s – it’s just too much. A party crammed with so much going on only leads the child to not know what to focus on as they’re being pulled in so many directions. When there’s too much going on children stop engaging deeply with anything. They flit from one thing to the next and all the magic gets lost in the noise.
From experience I can tell you that when too much is booked it’s complete chaos. The children will run wild, there will be tears, children will run into each other and mums and dads are eager to make a swift exit. What started out as good idea can turn into a stressful afternoon. I have numerous terms and conditions that prevent me from being at these events but occasionally one slips through the net and the result is always the same – overstimulation and disappointment.
To make a final distinction on the problem I’ll use the example of a pantomime as it highlights the point. Everything about a pantomime is designed to be special and memorable. Now imagine putting a bouncy castle next to the stage whilst the show is on. The magic is gone, the actors struggle and everyone has a bad time. It was one small decision that completely changes the whole event.
